According to the 2024 index prepared by the British magazine 'The Economist' in honor of International Women's Day, Japan ranked third among developed countries for the worst conditions for working women, and this is already the second year in a row. According to the Japanese agency Kiodo, out of 38 countries – members of the OECD, Japan took 27th place, followed by South Korea and Turkey.
The research indicated that the overall ratio of women in company director councils increased to 33% in 2024 compared to 21% in 2016. Almost in all countries, such as Great Britain, France, and New Zealand, roughly the same number of men and women hold positions in company director councils.
