The Japanese leader Shigeru Yashida met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday. The discussion was about the state of affairs within the framework of Yashida's working visit to China.
During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and China. Yashida expressed hope for the establishment of trusting relations between the countries and improving cooperation in various areas.
"We discussed various issues facing our countries and came to a shared understanding of the need to continue developing our relations," Yashida told journalists after the meeting.
The sides also exchanged views on regional stability and security, including the situation in North Korea and the Far East. Both sides expressed readiness for further cooperation to ensure peace and progress in the region.
