Japan has urged its citizens in China to be cautious about their surroundings and avoid large crowds amid a dispute that has erupted between Beijing and Tokyo over comments made by Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida regarding Taiwan. In a statement posted on its website on Monday, the Japanese Embassy in Beijing said, 'Please be mindful of your surroundings and avoid, as much as possible, places where large crowds gather or areas frequented by many Japanese nationals.'
