Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi complained to parliament that lack of sleep due to work stress is negatively affecting her skin, causing puffiness under her eyes. Sanae Takaichi, the first woman to lead the Japanese government, stated that she sleeps only about two hours a day, sometimes reaching a maximum of four hours. She noted that this sleep pattern may be harmful to her skin, and its effect is visible in the form of bags under her eyes. These comments about her lack of sleep came after Takaichi surprised everyone last week by holding a staff meeting in her office at 3 a.m. to prepare for a parliamentary session. At a legislative committee meeting, where she was asked about the importance of reducing long working hours in Japan, she said: "I now sleep about two hours, a maximum of four. I am known for my strong and strict commitment to work and my ability to withstand high political pressures." Japan has long struggled to achieve a healthy work-life balance, with many employees facing intense pressure in the office, to the point that there is a term "karoshi" in Japan for people who die from overwork. "I feel that it is damaging my skin," she added. Takaichi is the first woman to hold the position of Prime Minister of Japan and has a long political career that began in 1993. She was a member of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan and held several important ministerial positions before becoming head of the government.
