On Friday, Japanese government agencies announced that the newly appointed U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his Japanese counterpart, Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, held a phone conversation during which they agreed to continue strengthening the alliance between the two countries.
Antony Blinken stated: "We, representing our countries that strive to ensure peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, have agreed to continue our close cooperation and strengthen our partnership at all levels."
Discussing the current situation in the region, the ministers emphasized the importance of coordinated actions to enhance cooperation in the areas of security and safety.
