Japan's former Emperor Akihito celebrated his 92nd birthday on Tuesday after his heart condition stabilized, according to officials at the Imperial Household Agency. Akihito, the father of current Emperor Naruhito, was diagnosed last May with insufficient blood flow to the heart muscle. However, his condition has stabilized since he began new treatment last July, the Imperial Household Agency said. Akihito, who holds the title of Emperor Emeritus since abdicating the throne in 2019, is set to celebrate his birthday with his family. He will also receive guests, including Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
