Japan's Green Tea Exports Hit 70-Year High

Government and industrial data in Japan has shown that green tea exports in the first ten months of this year reached their highest level in over 70 years, driven by a boom in the matcha powder market abroad and the depreciation of the Japanese yen. The data indicated that green tea exports increased by 44% between January and October 2025 compared to the same period last year, reaching 10.08 thousand tons. The United States was the top destination, importing 3,497 tons in the first ten months of this year. It is noted that green tea exports in Japan have been continuously rising for the ninth consecutive year, reflecting the growing popularity of Japanese food products among health-conscious consumers abroad.
