Job Opportunities for Filipino Nurses in Japan

Japan is accepting applications for job positions available under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA) until April 4, 2025. According to the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, Japan is looking to welcome 50 registered nurses and 300 certified care workers from the Philippines.

For Filipino nurses (Kangoshi), the requirements include being a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing with an active Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license, having at least three years of work experience in a hospital, clinic, or health center, and being dedicated to working and studying as a candidate for 'Kangoshi' to obtain a National License in Japan.

On the other hand, for care workers (Kaigofukushishi), applicants should be a graduate of a four-year nursing course, whether or not they possess a PRC license; however, they must submit a TESDA National Certificate II in Caregiving (NC II). Just like nurses, care worker candidates should be dedicated to working and studying to earn a National License in Japan.

Both accepted candidates for Kangoshi and Kaigofukushishi positions will undergo six months of Japanese Language Training, first in the Philippines and then in Japan. Following the training, they will have the opportunity to work for three to four years at hospitals and caregiving facilities in Japan.

The Japanese Language Training is offered for free, and candidates will receive a daily allowance throughout the entire training period. This job opportunity program is managed by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Japan International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS).
