On Friday, the Japanese government announced the release of its rice reserves - a staple food product in the country, intended for external use in case of price hikes.
According to the statement, access to the reserves is calculated to ensure the population of the country has access in case of necessity. Currently, the level of rice reserves exceeds the recommended minimum. The Japanese government will allocate reserves for sale on the market in order to stabilize prices for food products.
"We believe that our rice reserves allow us to support the market in conditions of instability and ensure the population has access to affordable food," said a government representative.
