Toyota Motor Corporation announced on Thursday that it sold 10.8 million vehicles in 2024, remaining the largest automaker in the world by sales volume for the fifth consecutive year. This decrease is significantly related to a sharp drop in sales in Japan, where Toyota faced consequences tied to ongoing corporate governance issues involving manipulations with certificates, especially in the company Daihatsu.
Last year, Toyota's competitor group - the German automotive group Volkswagen, which ranks second behind Toyota - noted a 3.7% decrease in global sales, including sales from the Japanese manufacturer of compact cars Daihatsu and the commercial vehicle unit Hino Motors.
Quote: "We appreciate our customers for choosing our products and services, as well as our employees and dealers for their constant support," noted Toyota Motor Corporation.
