On Thursday, according to the government data, the trade deficit of Japan in 2024 is expected to decrease by 44% compared to the previous year, amounting to 5.33 trillion yen (34 billion dollars). Exports reached a record high due to strong demand for automobiles and semiconductors. The Kyodo agency cites the Japanese finance ministry, which reported that the total export volume in 2024 will increase by 6.2% compared to the previous year, totaling 107.09 trillion yen, the highest level since the early data began in 1979. Only in December 2024, Japan announced a trade surplus. The ministry noted in a preliminary report that imports rose by 1.8% and amounted to 112.42 trillion yen.
