New Study Warns Against Overreliance on AI Tools

Recent research showed that people using artificial intelligence at work tend to take the easy route, delegating decisions to these tools and losing their cognitive abilities. The study conducted by the development company of the software "Microsoft", whose authors are the developers of the artificial intelligence system "Cobalt AI.I.", involved more than 300 people engaged in cognitive work.

According to the report, which considered over 900 examples of the use of artificial intelligence in the workplace, there was a "significant decrease in cognitive effort" among many survey participants. The study that will be presented at the conference "Society of Machinery" in the Japanese city of Yokohama from April 26 to May 1 confirms that "improper use of technology can lead to a decline in cognitive abilities that need to be preserved". Relying on artificial intelligence, a person becomes lazy and dull.

The use of artificial intelligence can also lead to people shying away from complex cognitive tasks, such as strategic planning and problem-solving, preferring to engage in routine tasks, for example, only verifying the outputs of artificial intelligence, the report clarifies.
