A 26-year-old Japanese man has been arrested after holding four pet parrots hostage, threatening to harm them unless their owner met with him. According to the 'Life Door News' website, the incident occurred at around 1:00 AM on February 7th when the suspect, identifying himself as an employee of a company in Nanyo city, contacted a woman in her twenties living in the Okitama region via a mobile messaging app. Police stated that the man tried to pressure the woman into meeting him in person, warning her that there was no way to save her pets unless she complied with his demands. One of the messages read: 'There is no way to save your parrots unless you come back.' Another message said: 'You have four lives that will die because it is hard to refuse a friend's request,' before the suspect added: 'If you apologize on the phone now, I will forgive your parrots.' Instead of responding to the threats, the woman contacted the authorities, who intervened before any harm was done and arrested the man on suspicion of coercion. Police reported that the man has confessed to the charges against him, and authorities are currently investigating his motives and the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials did not disclose whether the birds were in immediate danger, but they confirmed that all four parrots are now safe after the man's arrest.
