Guanajuato and Hiroshima are forging strong links through cultural exchanges, economic partnerships, and smart city initiatives. The collaboration aims to promote business opportunities and enhance cultural ties, benefiting both regions.


Strengthening Ties: Guanajuato and Hiroshima Collaborate

In the context of a work tour in Japan, the head of the Economy of Guanajuato proposed exchanging good practices, technologies, and policies in smart cities, focusing on electric mobility, clean energies, and environmental management. In addition, the creation of a Business Opportunities Platform and a Bilateral Business Laboratory was proposed.

On the other hand, the Secretary of Culture presented the Guanajuato-Hiroshima Creation Platform, aiming to promote technical and creative exchanges among artists, facilitate artistic residencies, and enhance access to workshops and creation spaces in both territories. The Governor emphasized the importance of this relationship between Guanajuato and Hiroshima, highlighting the brotherhood between both communities.

During the tour, the Governor participated in the Flower Parade in Hiroshima, where she interacted closely with the population and expressed the intention to strengthen the ties between Guanajuato and Hiroshima. The creation of scholarships to connect young Guanajuato talents with companies in Hiroshima was proposed to enrich their technical training in strategic sectors.

Regarding the bilateral relationship, currently more than 2,000 Japanese citizens reside in Guanajuato, mainly in the industrial corridor. The opening of the Japanese Consulate General in León in 2016 has strengthened the ties between both regions. The importance of shared values between Hiroshima and Guanajuato was highlighted, emphasizing the mutual willingness to progress and grow.

The Governor proposed to the Hiroshima Government a broad cooperation agenda in areas such as Economy, Tourism, and Culture, aiming to consolidate strategic ties and position Guanajuato and Hiroshima as references in cultural, economic, and tourism innovation. Furthermore, concrete proposals were presented to strengthen the exchange, such as the creation of tourist promotion platforms and professional internship programs in Hiroshima for Guanajuato graduates.

In the cultural sphere, the exhibition "The Landscape and Tradition of Guanajuato" was inaugurated at the Cultural Center of Hiroshima Prefecture, featuring 40 works that highlight the artistic and heritage richness of Guanajuato. This exhibition will be open to the public for several days. Guanajuato's presence in Hiroshima was also evident through various events and activities promoting cultural and economic exchange between both regions. The relationship between Guanajuato and Japan has resulted in significant foreign investment in the state, generating thousands of jobs and strengthening trade ties between both parties.
